GW is a team game, there can't be a best class. Observe some matches.

Eh.. what's DD? Damage dealing?
It has been debated to be the warrior, but that was before the release of Nightfall.

And there is no overall 'best' for PvP in GW; that's what makes it such a great game. To be honest, all of the classes are used in PvP, just some more in different levels of PvP. Just try some classes out through PvP toons and then create a PvE character to learn the basics.

Damage Dealing wise, it'll be warrior or Dervish, whichever you like more. Try out support classes too..Monk/Paragon/Rit if they are still used. Assassins are used too, they deal some pretty good damage, if not by direct, by conditions..same with rangers, who are also pretty good with interrupts. Now, Ele's play both parts, they can be damage dealing and support, or one or the other. Wards, Spike damage, KDs for breaking clumpy groups or for the Ghost to stop him from capping. Oh yeah I forgot mesmers, hahahahha. They are good for..well what you would call shutting down Warriors and or casters, they can be used for damage and also for party support.

I barely PvP at all so I don't know much.

Actually, since there is no single "best" class in the game, and damage can come in SOOOOOO many delicious varieties, I shall recommend to you that you look at each of the classes that you can create. Not at their skills, but at their appearance. When you find the class that has the most appealing appearance to you, select that class and go.

Concerning PvP, pick a class you enjoy playing and concentrate on it. All classes are used in PvP (Though Ritualists have fallen out of play a lot). Damage wise Warriors and Dervish's are used most these days for damage, with Elementalists and to an extent Mesmers are used more for 'spiking', hitting a single enemy with a lot of damage to try and kill it before a Monk can react.

Ok so I think im looking at a elem or a mesmer here. I understand where you all are coming from. ALL classes are used in PVP, just like most mmorpgs...every scissor has its rock, every rock its paper...i get it.

I just simply want to know which class will be able to deal out the most damage in the shortest amount of time.

Thanks

Again, depends on how you do things. Warriors and Assassins can deal excelent damage at point blank range, and have generally the highest DPS, but their attacks don't always work due to your analogy of Rock, Paper, Scissors (which is more or less correct). I personally really like Mesmers for their damage potential, which is very subtle and usually also makes the opposing team rage at you for screwing with them (interrupts/e-denial ftw). Rangers can do that as well, but their damage is much more direct and their interrupts are not conditional like the Mesmer's. And Necromancers can deal a huge amount of hurt to a good sized mob with the right skills. Same with the Ele, which are great for a sudden spike and are best played with patience. Ritualists are the same way, have a little patience and great rewards await you. And the Dirvish can REALLY ruin your day if they get their skills lined up right.

Heh, I guess the only 2 classes that are not so great for damage are Monk and Paragon (both of which can do a great deal of damage, but are MUCH better suited to other forms of play). Mesmer should be fine for you, and remember that Higher DPS != More Damage.

It's not so simple a question. Depends where you are and what you're up against. Most probably the kind of class you're looking for is Warrior, Dervish or Assassin.

I was going to state the same thing, but Fallot beat me to it. The most damage in the shortest amount of time often depends on the build set up and the situation.

I'm assuming though that you haven't played this game in PvP much.

Damage Dealing, and Damage per second mean nothing really. No matter what damage you do, a good monk can spot the DD class coming to the target, and outheal you.

You need a good solid TEAM. Every class is balanced in this game. And it all depends on the skill set you and your team have, and what you come up against.

All classes can be used in a variety of different ways, their are probably 1000's of different builds in this game. So it's all irrelavent.

Find a character your happy with. Maybe you like the sound of, like the look of. Play through PvE, learn the skills, and then go play RA and TA. When you get used to your class in that situation, try out HA. One day you may win HoH with your class!

But, like I said, in my opinion an individual character means nothing in PvP. He can have the best build in the world, but if the rest of his team suck, he will get owned. PvP is a team game.

But you'll work all this out!

Good luck my friend!
